Profile Summary 

Parthapratim Munshi received his PhD under the supervision of Prof. T. N. Guru Row, Solid State and Structural Chemistry Unit, Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bangalore. His doctoral research was focused on the study of intermolecular interactions in molecular crystals via experimental and theoretical charge density analysis. Dr. Munshi then carried out postdoctoral research in Prof. Mark A Spackman's Group at the University of Western Australia (2005-2008), where he focused on the study of nonlinear optical properties of molecular crystals. Subsequently, he was awarded with the prestigious European fellowship, Marie Curie International Incoming Fellowship for the period of 2008 - 2010 to work with Dr. Christian Jelsch as a host scientist at the Nancy University, France. His Marie-Curie project was focused on the charge density analysis of proteins and quantification of atomic polarization and protein-ligand electrostatic interactions using ultra high-resolution X-ray crystallography. Prior to joining at SNU, Dr. Munshi worked as a research scientist at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, TN, USA (2011 - 2013), where he developed a neutron Beamline called IMAGINE and worked on neutron protein crystallography.

Dr. Munshi has published over 60 research papers in high standard international journals and attended several conferences and meetings around the globe to deliver lectures and present his research works. He also reviewed several research national and international research proposals and articles published by IUCr, RSC, ACS, Elsevier, etc. Currently, he is a member of science review committee of ORNL neutron sciences directorate, USA. In 2019, Dr. Munshi has been named as one of the Emerging Investigators in Crystal Growth & Design. 

Dr. Munshi has supervised one PhD, one Master and one B.Sc. students and currently supervising five PhD and one B.Sc. students. His research group is focusing on synthesis, characterization and structure-property relationships of organic multifunctional materials and hydrogen bonding studies in protein systems. His group extensively use high-resolution X-ray and neutron diffraction methods for highly accurate structural studies. For further details please visit
